Brian,Smith was very intelligent, but it doesn’t take a geiuns to plagiarize the KJV Bible. It doesn’t taken a geiuns to write enough it came to pass to drive anyone totally crazy. Making up words is easy enough that grade school kids do it all the time. As literature, the BOM is poorly written (except where it copies the KJV which I wonder how Reformed Egyptian translated into English comes out exactly like Hebrew and Greek translated into 1611 English, which was already obsolete in 1611! – oh, and including the italicized words from the KJV which the KJV translators put in there and were not in the original text How do you explain that!). As literature it is also extremely boring. It is loaded with anachronisms which prove it was a product of early 19th century imagination. It contradicts the Bible as well as the D&C. It has no archaeological, historical or manuscript evidence to support it.I have never seen any reviews from those in the literature profession which ever claimed the BOM was a literary achievement in any sense of the word.

In reply to #4. The difference I beileve is that Mormon’s beileve the sincere prayer that brought about the Book of Mormon was from a translation. It sounds like to me and I could be wrong that you are speaking about a sincere prayer for the Jehovah Witnesses to put teachings and not translations in their book. If Joseph Smith wrote the Book of Mormon like the Jehovah Witnesses wrote that book then Joseph Smith needs to go down as a literary genius. In his one book he created more new words that Shakespeare. That is just one interesting literary achievement in the Book of Mormon. So if it was written then he was a genius, but it seems to contradict itself to think he was crazy and that he could have never translated the book. Those assumptions contradict themselves, only because he would then have to go down as one of the best literary fiction writers of all time. Just a few thoughts. Thanks for the platform.
